Installing VanRoute

VanRoute is available on iOS and Android devices. Follow the instructions below for your platform.

System Requirements

iOS

  • iPhone or iPad running iOS 13.0 or later
  • 100 MB of free storage space
  • Internet connection (for map data and route planning)

Android

  • Android device running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
  • 100 MB of free storage space
  • Google Play Services installed
  • Internet connection (for map data and route planning)

Download from App Stores

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open the App Store on your device
  2. Search for "VanRoute"
  3. Tap the VanRoute app icon
  4. Tap Get or the download icon
  5. Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password
  6. Wait for the download to complete
  7. Tap Open to launch VanRoute

Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your device
  2. Search for "VanRoute"
  3. Tap the VanRoute app icon
  4. Tap Install
  5. Accept the required permissions
  6. Wait for the download to complete
  7. Tap Open to launch VanRoute

Required Permissions

VanRoute requests the following permissions to function properly:

Location Services

Required - Allows VanRoute to:

  • Show your current position on the map
  • Calculate distances to hazards
  • Provide location-based route suggestions

To enable on iOS: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → VanRoute → While Using the App

To enable on Android: Settings → Apps → VanRoute → Permissions → Location → Allow only while using the app

Internet Access

Required - Allows VanRoute to:

  • Download map data
  • Calculate routes
  • Access fuel price information
  • Sync your saved routes

Storage

Optional - Allows VanRoute to:

  • Save offline maps (coming soon)
  • Cache map tiles for faster loading

First Launch

When you first open VanRoute, you'll see:

  1. Welcome Screen - Brief introduction to VanRoute
  2. Permission Requests - Allow location access when prompted
  3. Sign Up / Sign In - Create a free account or sign in

Troubleshooting Installation

App Won't Download

Check your internet connection:

  • Ensure you have a stable WiFi or mobile data connection
  • Try switching between WiFi and mobile data

Check storage space:

  • Settings → General → Storage (iOS)
  • Settings → Storage (Android)
  • Free up at least 200 MB to be safe

Restart your device:

  • Sometimes a simple restart resolves download issues

App Won't Open

Force quit and reopen:

  • iOS: Swipe up from bottom → swipe VanRoute up
  • Android: Recent apps → swipe VanRoute away

Check for updates:

  • Ensure you have the latest version from the app store

Reinstall the app:

  • Delete VanRoute
  • Restart your device
  • Download and install again

Location Not Working

Enable location services:

  1. Check device location is enabled globally
  2. Check VanRoute has location permission
  3. Restart the app

iOS: Settings → Privacy → Location Services Android: Settings → Location
